Are you not up for accomplishing your work today? It happens to the best of us.

There are a few days when you don’t want to work, however, despite everything you need to get things done. You need to be beneficial. You need to complete things. You need to feel achieved!

As your energy levels slowly diminish is related with everything from how much rest you get, to how much caffeine you devour, to how much time spend time with yourself or with your close ones, there will be a few times when you’re just not feeling it — regardless of doing everything right — and when you need to battle the inclination to sit around idly to complete work.

This is what you can do to deal with it.

  • Look at the bigger picture

The point when you zoom out from the work you’re doing and consider how it fits into the master plan of your life, you can see at a higher vantage point why it’s significant that you complete it.

  • Watch how you talk to yourself

Practice self-compassion and be mindful that you aren’t being too critical on yourself. Most of the time we engage in negative self-talk, when you find yourself going down that road, stop yourself and realize that you wouldn’t talk to your friend like that.

  • Organize your workspace.

Pause for a minute to clean up and tidy up your work area. File those document envelopes that are lying around your work area, recycle papers you do not require anymore, erase old emails, arrange your office supplies, wipe out your office cabinet, etc.

  • Listen to uplifting music.

Take a break from your work and unplug yourself from the tedious work and into some good relaxing tunes. Try jazz, classical, or instrumental music to raise your spirits. Close your eyes unwind and truly tune in to the music.

  • Find a different place to work

Sitting in the same room every day and we are obliged to stay at home would be monotonous. Maybe sit in a different room or in the balcony for a while to have a change of “place”.

  • Have little prizes for yourself

Rewarding yourself is a big thing when it comes to playing games with your mind. It can be as simple as giving yourself a 15 minutes break after you do that one task. Try things like if I get these 5 tasks accomplished today, then I’ll have my favorite dessert or glass of wine with dinner tonight.

  • Sweat it out

Exercising for least 20–30mins every day can boost your energy. if you don’t feel like working, go ahead and workout for a bit.

  • Wear something good

Wearing something you like or wearing bright colors helps uplift the mood.

We most often than not have bad days where we just don’t want to do anything, and sometimes taking a day off is okay and much needed for your mental wellbeing. So take a day off if you feel like it and do not feel guilty.
